Cut Carbs Or Add Them?
Ever notice how everyone has an opinion about carbs? One person says “cut them,” while another says you need more. No wonder it’s confusing!
Here’s the truth for busy women over 40…
Carbs aren’t the problem—it’s about using the right kind, at the right time, for your body.
If you’re constantly tired, dragging yourself through the afternoon, or feeling wiped out after a workout, chances are you’re not eating enough of the right carbs.
I see this with so many of my clients—trying to go low-carb to lose weight, but ending up exhausted, moody, and struggling to sleep.
What actually helps…
Add in slow-digesting carbs like sweet potato, quinoa, or oats—especially for breakfast or after you exercise. This gives you steady energy (not a crash) to power through your busy day.
But if your go-to is processed carbs (white bread, muffins, sugary snacks), you’ll get:
A quick energy hit, followed by a slump
More cravings (hello, 3pm snack attack!)
Feeling sluggish after meals
Simple swap:
Trade processed carbs for fiber-rich fruit, veggies, or whole grains. You’ll feel fuller, more energised, and less up-and-down all day.
Bottom line:
Carbs aren’t good or bad. It’s about finding what works for you—so you can keep up with everything (and everyone!) that needs you.
